dashcam ded

Posted: 8/25/24

I don't know what happened but I was driving back home yesterday and I saw a dumbass make a left turn in a lane that you cannot make a left turn on, and I pressed the red emergency button on my dashcam, and I did not hear the 3 beeps that I was supposed to hear.

Then I realized, I didn't even hear the startup chime when I got in the car. So I pressed the buttons and nothing. I re-seated the connections and nada. Still dead.

I used a different cable and power supply and nope. Dead as a doornail. So I sent an email to support and see if they can help me out. I am out of warranty but hey, I managed to get a 40% discount from my papershredder that I broke so it does not hurt to try.

I will update this post (if I remember) with the end result of this ordeal.

If you are looking for a dashcam, I used a Viofo A119 V3 and had no issues at all. The quality is "good enough" and while I have not needed to use the footage, it has allowed me to capture IDIOTS on the road

I do not recommend dashcams with a Li-On battery as the heat inside the car could cause it to explode / bloat and potentially burn down your car. In addition, constantly being topped off at 100% will shorten their lifespan, increasing the risk of bloat / fire.

Please refer to this video for other recomendations (also do more research than just watching this video lmao):
